Blimey

Posted by Anna as the evening progresses on January 7, 2007

Las Vegas. Blimey. Enormous. Plastic. Brightly coloured and flashy and. Jesus, just a bit overwhelming right now, to be honest.

Though that could also be the fact I’ve been up for about 23 hours, on three hours of crappy sleep last night.

There are bright things, strange things, noise EVERYWHERE, and people throwing unbelieveably huge amounts of money onto tables and into holes.

Things I LOVE so far:

The sign outside our hotel that reads

COLD BEER … DIRTY GIRLS
Mudwrestling 10pm tues/thurs

I can’t wait.

Oh, my head is very everywhere. I will be coherent in the morning, unless it is morning already, which I’m not sure it isn’t. Is it?

  1. It’s always night time in Vegas. No windows or clocks in the casinos for you to check.
As far as the mud wrestling - Will you be out there on Tuesday participating?

  2. Las Vegas is a headfuck. I spent four days there, watching the prostitutes swimming around the edge of the shark infested rooms.

I stayed at the Bellagio hotel. It was unforgettable.

  3. Have fun in my hometown!

  4. Will you be getting married by Elvis in a hot air balloon?

  5. Ooh, that was very good secret-keepage. I am impressed.

[rest of comment deleted. I'll keep it til you get back]

  6. Better than cold girls dirty beer.

Have a good time. Roll a twenty on black for me.

  7. Sounds good!

Are you and/or your beloved there for CES or is it just great timing?

  8. I expect to see your Flickr account fully updated sometime after 10pm on Tuesday.

  9. Vegas? Jesus. Driving around Houston for a day was bad enough to get me totally overstimulated, so I shudder to think how long it would take for me to get too much of Vegas.

    Have fun!

  10. My only knowledge of Las Vegas is from CSI. Is it like that?

    Comment by Andria — 7 January, 2007 7:56 pm

  11. the most I’ve seen of Las Vegas is from what I’ve seen in the Rockford files…. I guess it’s changed a wee bit?

  12. I tire of Vegas within a couple of days. Seen one massive hotel / casino, seen ‘em all. Oh, and don’t worry about walking between them, coz we’ll take you on a moving walkway. Still, it’s a pretty amazing place. Try not to think about how much energy that place uses.

I’ll be back there for the fourth time in April :-)

  13. So are you there to get married then????

  14. Hi Anna!
Have a fabulous time in Vegas! I went there for the first time in November and I loved it! In fact I even know where you’re staying, look I’ll prove it! http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c247/Divavics/DSCN7168.jpg
Don’t forget to check out Love at The Mirage, it’s Beatle-tastic fun!

  15. Vegas! I’m about to book a trip to Vegas - can you recommend a good hotel? We were going to renew our vows at the Gracelands Wedding Chapel, but now non-working-monkey has upped the ante.

  16. I went to see Siegfried & Roy there years ago and it was fabulous. It didn’t cost an arm and a leg, unless you got too near the Puma.

  17. Las Vegas Lion Hunt Notes: Lions @ MGM Grand, Lions & Tigers (white ones at that) @ Mirage (be careful there).

  18. There’s one of those picture wallpaper thingys at The Hospital - on all four sides of The Forest Room - it’s a brilliant thing. If you ever come along to the writers’ salon (first Monday of every month, just ask me whenever you want to) I’ll show you.

  19. I’m only a 7-hour drive from there, so I have been more than I would care to count. People who live there generally avoid the strip like the plauge. Generally, I loathe Vegas, but there are some cool things to see, do, and consume.

  20. Another. Holiday. Again?

Seems to me you’ve been around the globe for the past couple of months. India. Africa… And now bloody America…

Damn you are so good with your secrets. We all feel betrayed.

    Comment by ansy — 8 January, 2007 6:18 pm

  21. Ansy - I know it *looks* bad, but India was work, as were a bunch of other things, Kenya was the first holiday I’d taken in a whole year, honestly.

And yes, you all guessed it, no, not the marryingt hing, the other thing; my Beloved is here for CES, and I’m just here ligging. I don’t see him all day or all night, and am just wandering around the place having a lovely lovely time.

Trying to update as often as possible, but whoever it is that we’re leeching wiffy off keeps turning the connection off every now and again, the buggers.

  22. That mud-wrestling link in your post - just can’t get it to work…

Leave a comment. Go on. Leave one. You know you want to.
And be nice. In general. And don't be spam, because that's rubbish.
And don't be a pendantiatrist either: It's dull. Yes, sometimes I can't spell. I'll get over it. So will you.
